Answer: (2,-1)

Solution:

The critical points of a function are those where the first derivative is zero.

Find the first derivative of f(x), d f(x) / dx

1) Given: f(x) = -x^2 + 4x - 5.

2) d f(x) / dx = d [ - x^2 + 4x - 5] / dx = -2x + 4

3) Equal d f(x) / dx to 0

d f(x) / dx = -2x + 4 = 0 => 2x =  4, => x = 2

4) Replace 2 in the function f(x)

f(2) = - (2)^2 + 4(2) - 5 = - 4 + 8 - 5 = - 1

5) Answer: point ( 2, -1)
