Point-slope formula: y-y1=m(x-x1)

To fill it in, m is our slope, 1/4. y1 is -8 and x1 is -1.

y+8= 1/4(x+1) This is the formula filled in. If you noticed, the (-) signs that were in the formula changed to (+). This is because (- -) can be changed into (+).

y+8=1/4x+0.25

y=1/4x+8.25

Your answer is y=1/4x+8.25
