The sum of two numbers is 38. The smaller number is eight less than the larger number. What are the numbers?

Answer: 15 + 23 =38

So n + n + 8 = 38

which means n + n = 30

and since the n's are the same, you just cut the 30 in 2 equal pieces. 15 and 15.

So n = 15, n + 8 = 23

15 + 23 = 38   :)
