Which means :

  • x + y = -102
  • x - y = 62

then

  • x + y = -102
  • x = y + 62

then

x + y = (y+62) + y = -102

then

2y + 62 = -102

2y = -164

then

y = -164/2 = -82

therefore

x = y + 62 = -82 + 62 = -20
