Pacing can add a lot to a story. Pacing should be appropriate to your story's crisis and climax. For example, building action and falling action must have their own paces in order for the story to flow. Sometimes, pacing during certain scenes, such as slow and frustrating events, are meant to build tension and anxiety in the reader. Other times, fast paced events can build anxiety in the reader. Hope this helps.
