multiply the -5x into the parentheses
[tex] - 5x(3x + 3) = - 15x - 15[/tex]
drop down the remaining numbers
[tex] - 130 = - 15x - 15 + 5[/tex]
add the similar terms
[tex] - 15 + 5 = - 10[/tex]
[tex] - 130 = - 15x - 10[/tex]
cancel out the -10 by adding it with itself and the -130
[tex] - 120 = - 15x[/tex]
divide both sides by 15
[tex] \frac{ - 120}{ - 15 } = \frac{ - 15}{ - 15} [/tex]
remember that if dividing by 2 negatives, you will get a positive.
[tex]x = 8[/tex]
